Video conferencing to replace traditional business communications

With budgets being tightened and businesses looking for ways to keep costs to minimum, organisations are looking for alternative ways to have meetings without having to travel.

Video conferencing allows you to share ideas, meet with your colleagues or clients but without having to travel, but still getting to see each other. Saving not only on costs of travel, but also on time – something that is becoming increasingly important as we all try to do more with less.

Collaborate with Video Conferencing

Video conferencing is also a great tool for virtual businesses. Bloomberg Business Week has a great section dedicated to virtual offices, something that small business owners are thinking more about, as a great way to reduce costs and increase staff morale.

Video conferencing removes the feeling of isolation of working from home as people can keep in touch as if they are in the office, and businesses can continue to develop and grow – and make money!

We have many customers that have staff all around the world. In many cases they have never actually met each other face-to-face – but the businesses work and succeed because technology is used in a way that allows them to keep in touch without having to be in the same place at the same time, and sometimes not even in the same country or same time zone.

One of our customers, Richard Kershaw, Co-founder of Wish.co.uk, said: “Our whole team of staff and freelancers work remotely. We have people working on Wish.co.uk in London, Edinburgh, Surrey, Vancouver and Malaysia, plus I spend much of each year abroad. Using our company helps us keep travel costs low and avoid many of the problems people associate with remote working. Keeping our start-up costs rock bottom was critical to allow us to grow at the rate we have.”

Technology allows us to be mobile, and there is no need to be tied to the office or your desk any longer. Video conferencing allows a real office meeting experience, but keeping costs to minimum so they can be put back in to vital business functions.

Have you used video conferencing? What benefits have you seen from using this type of technology?
